Today, we’ve announced our commercial-class PCIe Gen 4 SSDs. These M.2 format NVMe SSDs have four PCIe lanes (so we often refer to these as Gen 4×4) and are more than twice as fast as our PCIe Gen 3×4 SSDs.

You can get the most out of your high-speed applications that rely on fast I/O or high-volume disk access: DIGISTOR PCIe Gen 4×4 SSDs can read data at speeds up to 7200MB/s and write at speeds up to 6850MB/s.

As we noted last week, getting data onto and off of an SSD relies on how the SSD storage is connected to the rest of the computer. What is referred to as the host interface is composed of physical connectors and cables along with a signaling protocol. The two most common SSD host interfaces are Serial ATA (SATA) and PCI Express (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express), or PCIe. PCIe Gen 3 is quite common and the more performant PCIe Gen 4 is gaining wide adoption.
